Reception is a very important part of any offices, hotels, bars, restaurants and clubs. Normally reception furniture is of different patterns for the above industries with slight variation in the interiors. And anyone can easily spot the difference between the receptions of offices compare to the hotels. All of the above businesses obviously receive people from outside and the reception is definitely the first thing they are going to see.
Most digital media companies around England have fantastic looking reception as I have been to few for business purpose. One in Birmingham that I went to had a bar with some club furniture around the bar. It looked more like a mini bar but very eye catchy. So that was the first impression I had of their business and I have to admit I was very impressed. You only get once chance to make a good first impression.
I decided to change the look of my reception inspired from what I saw there but with a bit of a twist. I decided to go for cafe furniture with comfortable sofas most cafes have. I also moved the fish tank to my office from the reception and replaced it with a pool table. As we are a law firm we get very tensed and worried clients and bit of a pool and coffee will take them away from their worries for a bit and will also help the clients and us the experts to think properly with clear mind. We got really good feedbacks from our existing clients and we are certainly getting more and more new clients since the new reception has been in place. I also have to say a big thank you to my secretary and my colleagues as they gave me some advice on the new reception.
NOw our reception not only has the basic requirement of desks, chairs and others, it also has a creative and fun side with a pool table. I believed this change will definitely make our clients feel like at home and it certainly has. In a legal profession like ours we have to spend a lot of time outside in the reception as well as in the office. Most of the time when the meeting rooms are occupied we can certainly have a chat with our clients in the reception and even have a game of pool or two.
